Welcome to the blog! Well, the new blog. There have been a few honestly. As life progresses and I enter new chapters of my life, the blog seems to change a bit too.
I think I first realized I loved to write when I was in College. I studied at the College of Marin in Marin County and while I didn’t finish a degree, I learned A LOT about myself and studied a variety of subjects. I was a bit lost, attending college at 17 and really not prepared at all to decide what I wanted to do for the rest of my life. I had a lot of passions and interests. I still do. I don’t think that will ever go away.
Anyways, where was I? I started taking a mandatory class, something about creative writing. I loved it. So much so that I started signing up for more writing courses that I didn’t need to obtain a degree and got totally side tracked. I eventually stopped going to college and started working at a local Motorcycle shop. When I purchased my first bike, a 1976 Honda XL175 that I planned to restore and convert into some sort of cafe racer, I had the genius idea that to start a blog about it? So.. the blogging began. Crazy to think my blogging days started over a decade ago with a blog about rebuilding a motorcycle and have transformed into a life + style + design + travel blog but here we are.
Interior Design was something that just kind of happened, for lack of better words. A family friend owned a company and had a part time position open doing admin work. I was working full time for the motorcycle shop but my workaholic personality wasn’t satisfied and I needed more. So, I asked if I could give it a shot and she said yes! What started as a one day a week position filing and organizing the design library quickly turned into a full time position as a Project Coordinator and then eventually lead into a dual position as Project Coordinator and Junior Designer. I was feeding my appetite for both my type A side and my creative side. It was PERFECT for me and I loved every second of it. At this point, I stopped blogging to focus on my career.
In 2017, we moved from the Bay Area to the PNW for my husband’s next assignment with the United States Army. It was a big move in so many ways (more on that later) but fortunately I was able to transfer within my field to an office in Seattle, Washington. Unfortunately for me, that commute was a NIGHTMARE and combined with morning sickness in my first trimester with Owen (our second babe) I left my job. I only lasted a few months before needing something to feed my workaholic side so I started a new blog, This Beautiful Wild. Hard to believe this blog started three years ago and has morphed into something again!
When I started This Beautiful Wild I focused primarily on working with small shops doing product exchanges for posting on social media. Somehow, that grew into a micro influencer platform where I found opportunities to work with local boutiques and bigger companies. Eventually, it became a source of income and doing what I loved became my job.
Now remember how I said I was a workaholic? Well… I couldn’t keep myself out of the Interior Design industry so while starting this blog I also started working for a Home Staging and Interior Design company based out of Seattle. This was a remote position (and still is to this day) where I manage the company blog and all bookkeeping. Again, my type A personality and my creative side are both fulfilled with this job and my personal blog so I am one happy mama.
With our move to Germany for my husband’s next assignment with the United States Army, I needed a change. This Beautiful Wild just wasn’t right anymore for what was to come in this next chapter of our lives. So, I rebranded with The Moxie Blonde! Moxie was actually my husband’s idea and blonde just kinda worked because, well.. duh, right? Anyways, welcome to the new blog!
Life, style, travel, motherhood, military family stuff and probably a lot of coffee and food. Who knows! Sky’s the limit and while we are in Europe we are just going to see where this chapter takes us. We are so excited to bring you along. If you are new here, welcome! If you’ve been around for a bit.. stay tuned because the adventure is just beginning.
